Davao City is more than just the land of Durians and the King of Festival. Dabawenyos are people of diverse culture and talent. Davao City is a home to many artists, and dance is one of the most celebrated artistry in the City. Dance is quite a diverse form of art. Just like any other form of art, it tells stories such as history, culture and traditions, people, folklore, life, and dance, itself through harmonized body movements. It has been that way since before civilization began. Our ancestors dance even in their rituals such as healing, weddings, and good harvest just like the Kadayawan Festival. This has been kept alive until now through the festive pieces showcased during the celebration of this festival, and other thematic dance competitions all over the city. Davao’s share of local artists from cultural to contemporary to modern has been growing every day as time went by, and Dabawenyos are becoming more interested in dance than anyone ever did before.
In year 1998 a group of children was asked to perform a dance presentation in annual feast day of Immaculate conception GKK chapel , Dayang-dayang music is popular at that time ,so I gather my friends Kababata so perform in our fiesta. “Bangkerohan Bridge Jumpers, BBJ for short, is a bedroom chill pop/hip-hop hybrid musical group based in Davao City. BBJ consists of Perie Ouano a Music Producer, Rostum Sinfuego a DJ and Music Producer (both are from UNLABELED Collective), and Carlin Don Elorde, a local voice actor and bedroom musician.
